RATS allows the user to perform a complete radar analysis by directly monitoring stored or on-line radar data. A plug-in preprocessor is used to connect the PC to at variety of radar data plot and track formats. whilst filter parameters allow the user to select data for storage on disk, graphic display, hard copy plotting, or hard copy listing.

RATS can record and store the baseline performance achieved by radars during flight test which allows technicians to optimise the best site parameters for new radars. RATS also can routinely examine the effects of traffic peaks on air traffic control radars, record the distribution of air traffic loadings for better managing the existing system and for planning future systems in addition to being able to recall, display and plot pervious stored data. The system can also monitor radar equipment status, system site parameters or system operation.
