Phil Young has been appointed passenger sales manager for Qantas in South Australia. Ken Ryan has been appointed Australian Airlines manager for South Australia and the Northern Territory. Gregor G Macauly has been appointed Vice President – Marketing for Compass Airlines replacing Alex Klujin who has been transferred to Sydney as Vice President – Southern States.

Bottom Line

Northwest Airlines has posted a second quarter net profit of $44m. Earnings were down from $80m for the same quarter last year, due according to management, to the Gulf war, the recession, and short term deep discount pricing tactics of its competitors.
