The British Aerospace 146 had completed 70 hours of testing during 32 flights by mid-November and will be joined by a second BAe 146 this month while the third aircraft should be ready February/March 1982. Orders are so far held for two Series 100s while 11 orders and 12 options have been received for the Series 200.
• Pan American World Airways celebrated its 50th anniversary on 19 November. On 19 November 1931, their first service was ploted by Colonel Charles Lindbergh who was then a technical adviser to Pan American. The Sikorsky S-40 four engined flying boat with 33 passengers and 375lb of US Mail flew from Dinner Key, Florida to Cristo bal in the Canal Zone where it arrived on 22 Novembervia Cuba, Jamaica and Colombia. Named “American Clipper”, it was the first of the famous PanAm “Clippers”.
