December 1 – North Africa. Two Tomahawks of 3 Squadron RAAF intercept a reconnaissance Ju 88 which Sgt Wilson shoots down. Malaya. Second Degree readiness is declared indicating that the international situation is deteriorating. All squadrons are to be ready to move to any station at 24 hours notice.

December 4 – North Africa. Hurricane reconnaissance sorties of 451 Squadron RAAF report German preparations to attack Ed Duda. These flights greatly aid XIII Corps in deploying its forces within the 43 mile (69km) long Tobruk perimeter.
