Arelatively small number of aircraft are listed this issue, however some interesting machines are shown including two warbirds and a new type to Australian skies.

North American Trojan, AVC, is the second T-28D model to fly in Australia and joins Randy McFarlane’s XVT (ex Vietnamese Trojan) on the air show circuit. The Trojan was designed as a replacement for another popular warbird in Australia, the Harvard. Originally built as a basic trainer, it was ultimately superseded by the Cessna T-37 as it did not live up to the expectations of the USAAF in its training role. It was later developed for counter insurgency opera- tions and starting in 1962 almost four hundred of the earlier T-28As were fitted with Wright R1820 engines and designated T-28D. A large number of these D models saw service in Vietnam and Laos and it is from the latter Air Force that Heli-Muster’s machine comes. One of 266 T-28As built for a 1949 USAAF contract by North American Aircraft it was serialed 49-1519 before being transferred to the Laos Air Force and serialed 3408. Another T-28D from the same batch, USAAF serial 49-1724, is also in Australia being rebuilt to flying standard. Unlike AVC this, yet to be registered, Trojan has been flying privately in the USA as N2884G.
