Australian Airline Deregulation – Overwhelmingly an International Success Story

It was just over a year and a half ago when I confronted a Perth based travel writer colleague ofmine during an industry conference on Hamilton Island.

I asked him why didn’t his compatriots in far off Western Australia venture across to see just how great the holiday delights of northern Queensland really were. Not surprisingly he responded with, “why should they when for far less cost they can jet off to the delights of Asia and added to this it would be more of a hassle for them to fly to the Whitsundays or Cairns than to any Asian destination”.
