Let’s Fly – But Safely!
Just how effective is this magazine’s regular Air Safety feature (or, for that matter, other published aviation) in preventing the general aviation accidents that so often make newsin the daily press, radio and television bulletins?
Pilots who have been in the industry for a number of years could be excused at times for thinking they have heard it all before-that some of the occurrences are quite predictable, that many of the happenings conform·to all too familiar patterns.
And this is so true! The same types of general aviation accidents do seem to go on repeating themselves over and over again, pilots do seem to go on making the same old mistakes, and there is an impression that general aviation as a whole – and private flying in particular – is learning nothing from the mistakes of its less fortunate practitioners.
