The first Airbus A310 F-WZLH which was rolled out at Toulouse on February 16, had its first flight on April 3 lasting 3hr 15min. The aircraft is one of 10 ordered by Swissair as a launch customer (with Lufthansa) for the A310 in March 1979.
• The first of the USAF’s Boeing KC-135R tankers retrofitted with the CFM56-2B-1 turbofans is due to be rolled out in June with flight tests to begin in August. Under current plans a total of 250 KC-135R will be re-engined plus a further 11 for the French Air Force.
