Taaats – The Background to the Thomson Selection
Many critical comment has appeared in the press in the last few weeks over the CAA’s selection of Thomson Radar Australia Corporation as the preferred contractor for the Australian Advanced Air Traffic System (TAAATS).
The CAA has been attacked on two fronts, firstly by its own controllers, who were involved in the operational selection process; and by the Minister for Industry, Technology and Commerce, Senator John Button over the industry development opportunities offered by the Thomson selection.
AA thought that it would be appropriate to request the CAA General Manager Projects, Dr Rob Edwards to provide the background to the CAils selection. The following is the result of an interview with Dr Edwards.
