One of the notable characteristics of the 328 is its wing. Based of that of the earlier 228, it is an advanced aerofoil design of low drag. (Deutsche Aerospace)
Update-Dornier 328
Dornier 328
A definite growth area in recent years is the heavily contested market for high speed turboprop commuter airliners.
The large number of aircraft vying for orders, such as the Dash 8, EMB-120, J31 and J41 Jetstreams and Saab 340B ensures market share is bitterly fought for and means any new entrants are going to have an extremely hard time gaining market acceptance. However, Dornier’s latest product, the new generation 328 has already attracted a substantial number of orders even before it made its first flight.
Dornier’s initial success however is not surprising. The 328 combines advanced aerodynamic design, composite construction and integrated cockpit systems, placing it technologically ahead of its current competitors and justifying the claim that it is truly a third generation turboprop regional airliner.
