May 31/June 1 – Australia. Outside Sydney Harbour, parent submarines of the Japanese Eastern Attack Group await the return of the attacking midgets in vain. They will return two more nights before dispersing to disrupt shipping along the eastern coast and off New Zealand.

June 1 – North Africa. Kittyhawks of 112 Squadron and 3 Squadron RAAF meet fourJu 88s and four Melll0s escorted by Bf 109s. For 3 Squadron, F/Lt Barr, PIO Coward and Sgt Neill each claim a 109.
