The 96M will feature a two crew cockpit and include an integrated display, flight management system and on-board maintenance readout. The l/-96M is due to make its first public appearance in the west at the 1993 Paris Salon.

Continues Recession to Affect Job Prospects:
The recession and general reductions in defence spending continue to cause large job losses in aerospace businesses all over the world.
In the USA, the Martin Marietta Astronautics Group will sack up to 1,750 employees this year as it reorganises its business from four to three operating groups. This represents about 15% of the company’s current workforce of 11,500. The Lockheed Missiles and Space Co also plans large job cuts, in its case about 1,400. In Sweden, Saab will lay off 500 workers, or about 7. 5% of its staff, due to declining orders. Of the 500, 400 will be from the factory floor and the remainder from the administration sector. The production rate of the Saab 340 Bregionaltur- boprop will also be reduced from 59 in 1991 to 50 this year.
