The group’s Chairman, in reporting a successful year for 1991, said that the group had focused on laying the foundations for the future through innovation, modernisation and restructuring. • Hawker de Haviland Ltd has reported a net profit of $700,000 for the December year compared with $11. 0m previously. The group’s sales increased by only 2. 1% to $287. 7m. The poor performance resulted from a mixture of industrial relations problems, the state of the domestic market for repair and overhaul, and production problems. • Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd has reported a $HK3,653m ($A62lm) operating profit for the year ended December 31, 1991, on revenues of $HK20,935m ($A3,560m). The results are slightly down on the same period last year and were influenced by the Gulf War and the worldwide recession. • The Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company (HAECO) has reported a 12. 8% increase in turnover for the year to December 31, 1991, to $HK1,806. lm ($A307m). Profits rose 10. 8% to $HK320. 6m ($A54. 5m). The result reflects an increase in airframe and engine maintenance demand from overseas customers In April 1991, H AECO acquired 29. 1% in ASTA Aircraft Services, which provides heavy aircraft maintenance at its Avalon airport facility.
