The USAF has selected the Slingsby T67 Firefly for its Enhanced Flight Screening programme, replacing Cessna T-41 Mescaleros. The first order was for 38 aircraft out of a total requirement for 113. The British designed Firefly is fully aerobatic and powered by a Textron Lycoming powerplant. Logistic support for the Firefly will be provided by Northrop.

Drag is less than expected, the empty weight will be met, and climb, block fuel consumption and payload/range projections have all been substantially better than expected. Both maximum fuel and maximum payload range are about 300km more than estimated. Certification of the RJ is imminent.

British light aircraft manufacturer Slingsby has won the hard fought contract for the US Air Force’s Enhanced Flight Screener (EFS) programme with its T-67M260 Firefly aircraft.
