Startup Post-compass 2 Poned:
The commencement of services by Compass 2 has been sensibly delayed from July 1 till late August or early September.
The July 1 startup date was originally mooted back in February and was considered by many industry observers as being unnecessarily hurried in view of the vast amount of work required to get the new airline operational. The delayed startup is both good news and bad news for the air- line in that it will cost in the region of one million dollars a week in sunk costs from the point of the float being completed till the actual commencement of services. On the other hand it is considered preferable to commence operations in the Spring rather than be saddled with the instability of the traditional winter trough. Also extended was the time period of the float which closed two weeks later than initially expected on July 12.
