Pratt & Whitney's Advanced Ducted Prop (ADP) technology demonstrator has successfully completed the first stage of its development programme. During ground testing the engine, which is based on a PW2000 core, it demonstrated a sea level thrust rating in excess of 53,000lb and has transitioned between forward and reverse thrust. TheADP features a multi pitch fan system with a diameter of 300cm (11Bin) and a bypass ratio of 15:1, compared to the 6:1 of current generation high-bypass turbofans.
