Qantas Looks at 800 Seater:
Qantas has expressed an interest in the 600-800 seat so-called ‘Super Jumbo’ now being investigated by Boeing The Very Large Commercial Transport, as Boeing has designated it’s design study, is considered to be particularly suitable for the rapidly expanding Asian market with its congested and slot limited airports. Design proposals for what would be the world’s largest airliner are still in the earliest stages, as Boeing would need partners to share in the estimated $US10bn development costs.
To this end Boeing has been talking independently with the individual members of the Airbus consortium. Discussions have recently taken place with Deutsche Aerospace, Aerospatiale, British Aerospace, and CASA.
