• The US Department of Defense has allocated the designation of F108-GE-100 for the CFM56 engines to be fitted to much of the USAF Boeing KC-135 fleet. Deliveries of the re-engined KC-135Rs will begin later this year and current plans provide for up to 300 KC-135Rs to be completed.

The RAN took delivery of the first of two Westland Sea King Mk 50A helicopters on January 26. The Sea Kings were ordered during September 1980 and they will join the other Sea Kings in service with HS 817 based at Nowra The British Aerospace 146 obtained full British Certification on February 7, 17 months after the first flight.
