Royal Singapore Air Force unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) will be deployed to the Australian Army's Shoalwater Bay training area in November to participate in the brigade level Exercise Wallaby. The RSAF operates both the LAI Scout, (pictured) which can carry a 38kg payload over a radius of 100km for seven hours, and another, undisclosed advanced UAV type.

Just when it was satisfied that the bogey of the CAA’s Safety Tax proposal had been satisfactorily dealt with, the General Aviation industry – commuter and charter operators, flying schools, and authorised workshops – has been dismayed by recent proposals announced by the CAA to recover the costs of what it entails the Safety Regulatory Function.
At a meeting called at extremely short notice at Melbourne’s Moorabbin airport on February 22, more than 100 General Aviation industry representatives heard a four man panel of CAA officers present their “preferred option” for recovering an additional $10m from the aviation industry as a whole during 1993/94 to fund the Regulatory and Surveillance aspects of aspectsofthe CAA’s Safety Regulatory Function.
