The E-Jets arrive

For many years Embraer has been working hard to sell its popular twin engined E-Jets range to Australian airlines. Then a flurry of announcement in late 2006 saw no fewer than three Australian operators commit to the type.

In quick succession SkyAirWorld, Virgin Blue and AirNorth all committed to acquiring E-Jets, making 2006 a memorable year for the Brazilian manufacturer. Those Australian successes come in the broader context of one of the world’s most successful jet airliner programs – total E-Jet firm orders now stand at over 600.
