New tankers on track

While the RAAF’s 33SQN presses ahead towards the June 30 cessation of 707 operations, work on the unit’s first Airbus A330 based KC-30 continues apace at EADS’s Getafe facility, just south of the Spanish capital of Madrid.

After completing a series of proximity trials with EADS’s A310 testbed and Portuguese F-16 and Spanish EF-18 fighters over the new year period, the KC-30 was grounded in mid February so that the second phase of the conversion process could commence at Getafe.
