A Lufthansa spokesman has announced that the airline will not receive its first A380 until the northern summer, a delay of approximately three months for the aircraft.
Lufthansa previously said that it planned to take delivery of its first A380 in March, but spokesman Michael Lamberty told Bloomberg that it was now expecting the aircraft “in the course of next (2010) summer”. He added that, “This is happening very clearly because of internal delays at Airbus.”

The announcement highlights some of the concerns noted by Airbus parent company EADS, which recently nominated the A380 as one of two challenging programs (along with the A400M) as expected production efficiencies have not been realised as expected.
