Boeing says first runs of the 747-8 Freighter’s General Electric GEnx-2B engines were successfully completed on December 8.
The tests, which began just before 10am local time on Tuesday, saw the engines started and then operated at various power settings to verify systems performance. APU power was used to start the first engine, with the remaining three engines then started using cross bleed.

“We are very pleased with the engines’ performance during this test,” said Mo Yahyavi, vice president and general manager of the 747 program. “The engines and all the systems performed as expected.”
Boeing says the tests are an important milestone on the path to the 787-8F’s first flight, which is expected in January.
