The 787 completed high-speed taxi tests on December 12, the last in a series of functional tests planned in preparation for first flight, which Boeing says is planned for December 15.
“Our pilots told me the airplane performed beautifully,” said Mike Delaney, vice president and chief project engineer for the 787 of the taxi tests.

During the testing, ZA001 reached a top speed of approximately 130kt, and the pilots lifted the nose gear from the runway.
“787 first flight is now officially set for 10am Pacific Standard Time on Tuesday, December 15 at Paine Field in Everett, Washington, subject to weather conditions,” Boeing subsequently confirmed in a statement. “In general, Boeing policy for first flight weather conditions calls for good visibility, no standing water on the runway and gentle or no winds.”
