Cabin crew at British Airways will vote on January 25 whether to take strike action after talks with the airline failed to find a solution.

The ballot comes after the Unite union attempted to hold a strike over the busy Christmas period which was overturned by the British High Court due to issues with the original voting system. Unite has not said when the next strike is proposed for, but some reports from the UK claim that the union is possibly looking to disrupt the busy Easter period, which could financially cripple the airline.

BA management said that they were “disappointed but not surprised” at the calling of a new strike ballot, while the airline has also indicated that it may wet lease aircraft and bring in temporary cabin crew to mitigate the effect of a potential strike on its passengers.
