Major hub airports in the Asia Pacific region have swept the Airports Council International’s Airport Service Quality Awards, but Australian airports failed to even get a mention.
The awards, which come from data collected by the ACI’s Airport Service Quality passenger survey, saw Seoul’s Incheon airport take out the first prize, followed by Singapore Changi, Hong Kong International, Beijing Capital International and Hyderabad Rajiv Ghandi Internaitonal airports. The same order of airports also took out the Best Airport awards for the Asia Pacific region.

ACI director general Angela Gittens said, “2009 was a tough year for airports worldwide. Traffic numbers fell while competition rose. For airports, it was a year of balancing tight budgets with high customer expectations for service excellence. The results of the year-long ASQ passenger survey help identify the leaders in meeting that challenge and demonstrate that airports have continued to invest and focus on customer service despite falling traffic numbers.”
No Australian or New Zealand airports won awards in any of the ASQ categories for the year.
