Singapore Airlines continued its trend of increasing load factors during January, according to operational data released recently by the airline.
For the month, the airline’s passenger load factor increased by 5.0 percentage points to 79.1 per cent, aided by a 7.8 per cent fall in capacity, while passenger numbers decreased by 3.3 per cent. By region, the West Asia and Africa routes saw the greatest increase in load factor, up 9.5 percentage points to 75.2 per cent, while South West Pacific (which includes Australia and New Zealand) had the lowest increase of 1.4 points to 85.7 per cent.

SIA Cargo saw its load factor rise by 5.9 points to 60.1 per cent, aided by a 3.3 per cent increase in freight-tonne-kilometres and a 6.8 per cent fall in capacity. Loads were particularly strong out of East Asia and Europe, while load factor declined in the South West Pacific market.
