Strategic Airlines is reportedly putting the finishing touches to plans to begin flights on the crowded Perth-Denpasar (Bali) route three times a week from June.

According to a report in The West Australian newspaper by Australian Aviation contributor Geoffrey Thomas, executives from Strategic will be in Perth this week to discuss dates and timings for the proposed services with the travel industry. If these are confirmed, it appears likely that Strategic would use its Perth based A320, which operates services to Derby three times a week, to operate the services.

It appears that should the Perth services be confirmed that Strategic may abanon its plans to operate Brisbane-Denpasar services. Strategic received approval last year from the International Air Services Commission to allow it to transfer on an allocation of capacity awarded to OzJet Airlines on the Indonesia route to allow Strategic to operate twice weekly A330-200 services on the Brisbane-Denpasar route, which were planned to start in December but have yet to operate.

If the services do go ahead, Strategic would become the fifth carrier flying between Perth and Denpasar, with Garuda Indonesia, Indonesia Air Asia, Jetstar and Pacific Blue all operating multiple services per week with either Boeing 737-800s or Airbus A320s.
