Skywest picks up CITIC contract

Skywest and CITIC Pacific Mining have signed an agreement to operate a scheduled charter service between Perth and Karratha.

While the services will be primarily used to transport CITIC Pacific employees, 10 per cent of the seats on the flights will be available to the public. The agreement, which Skywest anticipates additional revenue of $10.4 million from, will run for one year, with a term extension also available.

Skywest also provides fly-in/fly-out services to a number of other mining companies, including a major contract with Rio Tinto. The carrier said recently that resource charter contracts now account for approximately 60 per cent of its revenue.
