Brisbane Airport has recorded growth of 4.2 per cent in total passenger numbers during February, which it says points towards a stronger year ahead.
The airport recorded a 4.9 per cent growth in domestic passengers, taking it past the one million passenger mark for the month. International traffic also showed solid growth of 2.2 per cent, primarily boosted by strong arrivals from Asia.

“Around the middle of the month, international traffic was boosted by visitor arrivals for Chinese New Year, with several charter services operating to cater for the additional demand,” explained the airport’s managing director Julieanne Alroe. “Chinese and Hong Kong visitor arrivals were each up 21 per cent on the previous February. Other markets growing significantly over the month included Australian resident departures (up 7 per cent), and visitors from America (+13 per cent), India (+9 per cent) and Singapore (+32 per cent).”
Alroe added that the airport was expecting a strong March, particularly with Tiger Airways launching services to Melbourne, Rockhampton and Adelaide, while Philippine Airlines has also recently commence services to Manilla. In addition, during April, QantasLink will boost a number of services as it takes on additional Bombardier Q400s.
