Speculation is mounting that Embraer is looking at developing an aircraft larger than the E-195 after the Brazilian manufacturer announced a reshuffle of its executive management team.
The biggest change is the appointment of Mauro Kern, who was previously the company’s executive vice president, airline market, to the new role of executive vice president, new programs, airline market. Kern’s previous position has been taken on by Paulo César Silva. In addition, Embraer has appointed Artur Coutinho as chief operating officer, with direct responsibility for industrial operations, procurement, technology, organisational development and human resources.

Embraer said in a statement that the appointments would “enhance its ability to assure full customer satisfaction and expand its business dynamics, while reinforcing the strength and productivity of its internal operations.” However, with the appointment of Kern to his new position, a number of analysts believe that it may signal a move by Embraer into larger aircraft, possibly following rival Bombardier into the 100-150 seat market.
