The Association of Professional Engineers, Scientists and Managers (APESMA) has announced that professional engineers at Qantas will put in place overtime bans over the Easter period and warned that these could disrupt some airline services.
The action is part of an ongoing dispute between Qantas and its professional engineers, which APESMA claims is related to fatigue management issues and appropriate recognition and ongoing training for the airline’s 190 professional engineers.

Qantas expressed its disappointment at the action being taken by the engineers, but says that it should not affect its operations. “Professional engineers do not work weekends, they do not work public holidays, so any threat or any claim by the union that Qantas flights will be delayed is simply hollow,” spokeswoman Olivia Worth told the ABC.
