Brazilian pilot Adilson Kindlemann crashed into the Swan River on April 15 during practice in the lead up to the Perth round of the Red Bull Air Race.
According to witness reports, Kindlemann was flying close to the water and appeared to be coming out of a tight turn when his wing may have struck something, sending the aircraft into the water at approximately 11:53am. The pilot was quickly rescued by nearby emergency response teams and taken to Royal Perth Hospital, where he is said to be well.

Red Bull Air Race has said that it will fully cooperate with authorities investigating the accident. It is understood that the accident is unlikely to affect the running of the race, which is scheduled for the weekend of April 17-18.
Kindlemann, 37, is currently second last in the Red Bull Air Race Championship and is in his rookie year. According to the Red Bull Air Race website, he is an airline pilot with over 11,000 flight hours and 1200 aerobatic hours. He began flying in competitions in 1994 and was a national aerobatic champion in the unlimited category between 2001 and 2004, and is also an honorary member of the Brazilian air force.
