Emirates has announced that it its A380s will return to the Dubai-New York JFK route from October 31 due to strong demand from the Americas.

New York was the first route to receive the A380 after it entered service with Emirates, which operated the aircraft on a daily service, but the global financial crisis forced the airline to downgrade flights to Boeing 777-300ERs, with the A380 instead being used on the Toronto route. Emirates says that with the upgrade, it will still operate two daily services to JFK, with the other service operated by a 777-300ER.

Emirates has eight A380s in its fleet while seven more are due for delivery this year. Its aircraft are powered by Engine Alliance GP7200 engines.
