Jetstar Asia is to receive two Airbus A330-200s, allowing the airline to start services from Singapore to destinations in Europe, Australia and North Asia from the end of 2010, the carrier announced on May 12.
Jetstar says the decision will create up to 200 jobs across its growing pan-Asian network, while it remains in discussions with a number of airports ahead of a pre-flight sales launch soon.

It is expected that the two A330s will be new aircraft which will be delivered with higher operating weights, allowing them to fly into southern Europe from Singapore. It is also believed that the carrier may use the A330s to operate flights to Japan, which Jetstar Asia will commence serving in July with daily Singapore-Taipei-Osaka services operated by A320s. Jetstar’s Australian operation currently flies to Tokyo and Osaka from Cairns and the Gold Coast.
