The International Air Services Commission (IASC) has granted an application from Qantas to will allow it to operate unlimited cargo services to and from Korea, while it has also been granted a separate determination allowing China Eastern Airlines to codeshare on Qantas services.
The IASC has granted Qantas a 10 year allocation of unlimited cargo capacity on the South Korea route which the carrier must utilise before June 30 2010. Qantas says that it plans to introduce a weekly service from Australia to Seoul, Anchorage and Chicago utilising a wet leased Boeing 747-400F operated by Atlas Air.

The airline has also been issued with a determination which will allow China Eastern Airlines to codeshare on Qantas operated services between Australia and Singapore, while Qantas will place its code on some China Eastern services to China from Singapore. Both carriers will be required to price and sell their seats independently and are not permitted to pool revenues.
