Global Hawk Block 40 completes flight expansion tests

The USAF Global Hawk Block 40 has completed envelope expansion flight testing at its Edwards AFB test facility.

The Block 40 has been designed to operate with the Multi-Platform Radar Technology Insertion Program (MP-RTIP) sensor installed in a large ‘canoe’ fairing on the aircraft’s lower fuselage.

After development testing aboard a Scaled Composites Proteus testbed, the first MP-RTIP has been delivered to Edwards and is expected to be integrated onto a Global Hawk for operational evaluation later this year.
