Regional Express is cutting the number of flights on the Adelaide-Port Lincoln route due to increased competition from QantasLink.
From August 23, the carrier will cut the number of flights it operates on the route from 120 to 98 per week, all of which are operated by 34-seat Saab 340s. This will result in a reduction of 38,000 seats annually on the route.

“Quite a disappointing turn of events – we’ve worked extremely hard over the last seven years to gradually build up the air service that we provide between Port Lincoln and Adelaide,” Rex’s GM network strategy and sales Warrick Lodge told the ABC.
“Obviously a lot of people welcome competition but I guess all I can say is that you know there are disadvantages from competition as well.”
QantasLink returned to operating flights between Adelaide and Port Lincoln on February 15, with the carrier operating 74-seat Bombardier Q400s on 23 return services each week.
