The latest domestic airline on time performance report from the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics (BITRE) shows that Qantas had the highest rate of on time departures among the four major airlines during July.
For the month, Qantas recorded an 82.8 per cent on time departure rate, followed by Jetstar at 82.7 per cent, Virgin Blue at 76.1 per cent and Tiger Airways at 72.2 per cent. The regional airlines were led by Skywest at 86.5 per cent, followed by Regional Express at 84.2 per cent and QantasLink at 77.6 per cent.

Virgin Blue had the highest rate of cancellations for the month, with 1.3 per cent of its schedule cancelled during July, followed by QantasLink at 1.1 per cent, Jetstar at 0.8 per cent, Qantas at 0.7 per cent, Regional Express at 0.6 per cent and Tiger Airways at 0.2 per cent. Skywest had the lowest cancellation rate at 0.1 per cent.
Compared to the same time last year, the industry average on time departure rate decreased from 84.3 per cent to 79.9 per cent, while the cancellation rate of 0.9 per cent was slightly higher than the 0.8 per cent for July 2009.
