Polytechnic West has officially opened its new Aerospace Training Centre at Jandakot Airport, which will be the hub of its aviation engineering, airport management and other related training.
The new centre incorporates the former Swan Tafe facility at Jandakot Airport along with a new hangar and workshop which is used for technical training. Earlier this year, the Centre also took delivery of a former OzJet Boeing 737-200 which will be used as a training aid. The Centre also has a Robinson R22, Beechcraft Baron and Cessna 340 for students to train on.

“The state government’s investment of $2 million in this centre, along with a direct contribution from Polytechnic West, has helped provide contemporary training facilities that will enable the aviation industry to develop a capable and skilled workforce,” said WA Training and Workforce Development Minister Peter Collier, who officially opened the centre on September 1.
As well as technical aviation maintenance engineering courses, Polytechnic West also offers a range of Associate Degree, Diploma and Certificate IV programs in aviation theory, management and ground operations, all of which are now delivered at Jandakot.
