Strategic Airlines’ French subsidiary is fighting action by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation to revoke its air operator’s certificate following incidents earlier this year.
The airline’s French operations involve two Airbus A320s and are overseen by the CEO of the Australian operation, David Blake. The airline became imbroiled in controversy in July after a flight to Tenerife was grounded due to a hydraulic leak while a replacement flight was also grounded by a cracked windshield. French magazine Le Point reports that the mishandling of passengers from these delays has prompted the DGAC to not renew the airline’s AOC.

In The Age newspaper, Blake said that neither the European nor Australian operations had any safety incidents and that the company was contesting the decision by the DGAC and remained in discussion with it. He added that “discussions taking place in Europe have no impact whatsoever on the Australian business,” which operates on a CASA issued AOC.
Locally, Strategic flies scheduled services from Perth to Derby and Denpasar and Brisbane to Port Hedland and Denpasar with A320s. It is also planning to start Brisbane-Townsville-Denpasar services from December with A320s.
