Brisbane Airport broke its monthly passenger total in October with 1.43 million passengers passing through its domestic terminal, beating the previous total by 3.2 per cent.

The airport says its year-on-year domestic passenger increase is at 6.3 per cent, while the Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Economics says the airport has achieved six per cent growth per year for the past 10 years, and will average 8.2 per cent over the next 20 years.

“It is pleasing to note more airlines coming to Brisbane Airport due to our 24 hour operations, highly competitive pricing, well-connected terminals and proximity to the CBD and of course the coastal holiday playgrounds,” Brisbane Airport Corporation CEO and managing director Julieanne Alroe said.

Over the next five years the airport will be investing more than $2 billion in capital works at the airport, including the $1.4 billion parallel runway project.
