Camden Airport Master Plan given approval

written by australianaviation.com.au | November 2, 2010

Camden Airport’s 2010 Master Plan has been approved by Transport Minister Anthony Albanese, paving the way for a number of aviation related projects at the airport to start.

As required under the Aviation White Paper, Camden Airport will establish a Planning Coordination Forum in association with the Camden City Council and NSW government to ensure that future developments at the airport are approved in consultation with local planning frameworks. It will also establish a Community Consultation Forum which will be headed by an independent chair and will allow for greater community engagement regarding the airport’s day-to-day activities and long term plans. The airport will also establish a noise management plan next year to meet local concerns.

“Together these measures will better balance our nation’s need for aviation infrastructure such Camden Airport with the effects its activities can have on the communities living nearby,” said Minister Albanese.

Upgrades which have been foreshadowed in the Master Plan include modifications and upgrades to taxiways, provision for additional hangars and aircraft parking spaces, relocation of the engine run up bay, and construction of additional facilities. Additionally, the airport will publish filming guidelines to ensure that safety and operational requirements are met when the airport is being used for filming, such as for segments of the Top Gear Australia television show.
