The Commercial Aircraft Corp of China (Comac) has revealed some basic specifications of its C919 narrowbody airliner and some initial orders for the twin jet at the Zhuhai Airshow.
It says the C919 will have a length of 38.9m, a wing span of 35.8m and a height of 11.95m, while cabin width will be 3.9m and cabin height, 2.25m. Comac plans a six abreast 168-seat single class cabin configuration, or 156 seats in a mixed class setup.

Four Chinese airlines and two lessors have confirmed orders for 55 C919s and options on another 45. The airlines, Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines, will take up to 20 C919s each, while GECAS has ordered five plus five options, and Chinese lessor CDB Leasing Company (CLC) has ordered a similar number.
Detailed design work on the C919 is expected to be concluded in 2012, with first flight scheduled for 2014.
