Qantas has taken delivery of its seventh A380 after VH-OQG Charles Ulm (MSN047) landed in Sydney on Saturday morning, after having been handed over to the airline at Airbus’s Toulouse delivery centre on December 16.
VH-OYG’s delivery was delayed by several days after one of its Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines had to be replaced after the discovery of the same fault suspected of causing the QF32 uncontained failure.

Meanwhile, VH-OQD, the third of the airline’s A380s to be grounded in Los Angeles following the QF32 incident, ferried back into Sydney on December 12. VH-OQB remains in Frankfurt, Germany, where it was undergoing Lufthansa Technik at the the time of the QF32 incident – as illustrated here in this amazing image also showing the Boeing 747-400LCF and a Lufthansa A380, while VH-OQC remains grounded in Sydney, and VH-OQA remains in Singapore awaiting repairs.
VH-OQE and VH-OQF, which had also been grounded in Los Angeles, returned to Qantas service in late November.
