Jetstar Asia CEO Chong Phit Lian said the extended codeshare partnership with Qantas was an important step in Jetstar’s plans to expand its Singapore base. “Jetstar’s ongoing strategic development and evolution of our major Singapore flying hub we predict will be greatly enabled over time by this new commercial arrangement with Qantas,” she said.
“Singapore is Qantas’s major hub in Asia and we are pleased to be able to offer our customers a wider range of travel options from Changi Airport, in partnership with Jetstar Asia and Valuair,” said group executive Qantas airlines commercial, Rob Gurney. “Today’s announcement underlines the growing strength of the Qantas Group’s two complementary airline brands in the Asia Pacific.”
Qantas customers will be entitled to the standard Qantas baggage allowance on Jetstar Asia codeshared flights, as well as complimentary onboard offerings on Jetstar’s new Singapore to Auckland route, which is to launch on March 17.
