United Airlines has completed software checks on all 96 of its previously grounded Boeing 757 aircraft, with normal operations fully resuming.
A software glitch related to the 757’s air data computer led United to perform unscheduled maintenance on 96 of the aircraft earlier this week, leading to 15 flight cancellations on Tuesday (February 15), with operations returning to normal by Wednesday despite ongoing checks.

The oversight first came to United’s attention after it realised during a maintenance audit that it failed to properly comply with a number of steps required by the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), leading to a voluntary grounding of its 757 aircraft.
The FAA can impose a penalty of US$25,000 per flight if an airline knowingly flies an aircraft that fails to comply with an airworthiness directives.
