Airbus has released a statement supporting the French Bureau d’Enquêtes et d’Analyses (BEA’s) preliminary findings into the crash of Air France Flight 447, which killed all 228 passengers and crew onboard in 2009.
“The preliminary information released by the BEA today is consistent with facts published in the BEA preliminary and interim reports,” the statement read. “The BEA’s work constitutes a significant step towards the identification of the complete chain of events that led to the tragic accident of Air France flight 447 in June 2009.”

The aircraft in question, an Airbus A330, has been the subject of intense media speculation following the crash, with accusations that the aircraft was ‘unsafe’ due to number of problems with its avionics systems. However, in the BEA’s initial report, a combination of malfunctioning sensors and pilot error has now been blamed for the crash.
The company has offered its condolences to the crash victim’s families, and said it remained “committed to continuing to provide support to the BEA investigation with the objective of identifying all potential lessons to be learnt”.
