Ten All Nippon Airways (ANA) pilots have completed their 787 flight training at Boeing Flight Service’s Seattle campus.
All 10 pilots, comprising of senior check and training crew, officially concluded their training after performing flights in 787 test aircraft ZA001 over Washington state earlier this week. Before the conclusion of training, ZA001 was also used to conduct two base training flights on May 25 with Boeing instructor pilots and ANA pilots on board, and involved approaches at Grant County International Airport in Moses Lake, Washington.

Tasks performed during ANA’s training flights included one instrument landing system (ILS) precision approach and two visual approach patterns per pilot, with touch-and-go landings performed as well. Before each flight, every ANA pilot was given a preparatory session in the 787 full-flight simulator, which they have been training on since April 23.
The competition of 787 training follows Boeing and ANA’s announcement to begin simulated in-service flights across several airports in Japan for service ready operational validation (SROV) on the aircraft in July. ANA currently has 55 787s on order, with Boeing expected to deliver the first aircraft in the August-September timeframe.
