- Air Lease Corporation (ALC) has ordered 36 Airbus A320neos (plus 14 options), 11 A330s and one A321. The lessor has also come to an unfinalised agreement with Boeing for the purchase of 14 737-800s (plus four options), five 777-300ERs and four 787-9 Dreamliners, and will also exercise options on six aircraft from last year’s 60 737-800 order.
- SAS confirmed an order for 30 A320neos, adding to the airline’s existing fleet of eight A321s and four A319s.
- GECAS announced orders for 60 CFM powered A320neos, bringing the total number of A320 variants ordered by the lessor to 390.
- GECAS also signed for 15 ATR 72-600s, with options for 15 more, in a deal worth approximately US$680 million.
- Saudi Arabian Airlines placed a firm order for four additional A330-300s, complementing an existing order for eight placed in July 2008.
- Qatar Airways has placed a US$1.7 billion order for six Boeing 777-300ERs, adding to its existing fleet of eight 777-200LRs, 15 777-300ERs and two long-range 777 Freighters.
- Indonesia’s Sriwijaya Air has purchased 20 Embraer 190s with options for a further 10, in a deal valued at US$856 million.
- Kenya Airways ordered 10 Embraer 190s plus a further 10 options for either the E-190 or E-170.
- MIAT Mongolian Airlines has announced an order for two 737-800s and one 767-300ER worth US$245 million.
- Bombardier announced that a “major network carrier” has signed a firm US$616 million order for 10 CS100 aircraft along with six options.
- Boeing announced “orders and commitments” by two as-yet unidentified customers for a total of 17 747-8 Intercontinentals, with the combined deals reportedly worth US$5.4 billion.
